OCTOBER 2021:
United Airlines planned to place about 2,000 employees on unpaid leave for seeking an exemption from its vaccine mandate
American Airlines spokesman told NPR they have 4,000 pilots who were holding off on getting the shots. Many were concerned about long-term effects of the vaccine.
A spokesman for the Allied Pilots Association told CBS News: “If you suddenly one day you have 4,000-plus pilots that are not able to fly, that's a big deal. That's worse than this past summer.”
